A Winter’s Day Hike

0

It is such a great time of the year to get out and get some fresh air! After the last few weeks of being super busy it is so nice to take a break, hike and clear my head. Today it was just me and hubby and that was fine. (we left the kids home raking up what was left of the leaves, lol)

A beautiful view from the trail of the pond and chapel in the distance

One of our favorite local spots to hike is Avalon Park and Preserve. They have multiple trails for walking, hiking or biking, gardens, woods and a large duck pond. The offer events here year round including walks with the Audubon Society, and they even have a Sky Lab that offers observatory programs. It really is a beautiful park and we are so lucky to have this in our neighborhood.

Cartas al Cielo

One of my favorite spots within the park is the “Cartas al Cielo”, this is a beautiful, tranquil area with a sculpture that serves as a vessel of communication with those who have no earthbound address. Visitors are encouraged to send a postcard to those who have no earthly address. Postcards and pencils are provided and there are large boulders to sit and reflect on life. Once your card is written you put it into the slot on the sculpture. (I wonder what they do with all of these cards?)

This is my absolute favorite and I write a card each time I go.
